Here's a dour Scottish antidote to all those bloody comfort and joy xmas songs: We're All Going To Die by Malcolm Middleton

Real Nutjob Xmas card

Sunday, December 25th, 2005

From Pandagon, here's a genuine nutjob Xmas card. Brave, gun toting Santa frightens the bomb wielding 'terrist' away from the Xmas tree! Not sure if I should laugh or cry at this card.

Australian Xmas

Sunday, December 25th, 2005

Dear all, It's 28 degrees C, not a breath of wind, the cicadas are chirping and the sky is a perfect, cloudless blue. I just got back from a quick swim at the beach. The water was like warm, green glass. Now I'm tidying the house, in preparation for the relatives ...

Xmas preparation

Friday, December 23rd, 2005

My first day of holidays. I spent today preparing for Xmas, tidying the house (finally cleared out my cupboards) and wrapping presents. Now I'm sipping a Chai (Joanne gave me Chai syrup for Xmas and it's fantastic) and catching up on my e-mails in a clean room. Lovely. :-)

Worse than beige undies

Thursday, December 22nd, 2005

There's a very amusing post at Pandagon about the worst Xmas presents the readers have received. My favourite worst present is this: For my 35th birthday, when I was feeling kind of low about turning 35, my mother-in-law gave me Undaunted Courage by Stephen Ambrose, the biography of Merriwether Lewis (half ...

Xmas party

Sunday, December 18th, 2005

Nice little Xmas party today, organised at the last minute (10pm last night) and held at Fiona's place. We spent about 2 hours in the heated pool and everything was wet by the time we got out, including the chips. Then we played Trivial Pursuit (I won and was informed ...

Australian brush-turkey

Wednesday, December 29th, 2004

Saw an Australian brush-turkey near my house. It must have heard Xmas was over so it was safe to come out. ;-) They are supposed to live in rainforests. Nice to know brush-turkeys consider my area a rainforest.

Xmas DJ

Sunday, December 26th, 2004

I had my iPod and iBook, plus wireless broadband, at the family Xmas party tonight. I felt like an old time piano player at a party getting requests. When people saw I could get songs in seconds and play them on the stereo via my iTrip, I was inundated with ...

Skye Elizabeth McPhee

Friday, December 24th, 2004

Went to the hospital today. Skye's looking healthy. She's having a little trouble getting used to breast feeding but she's learning fast. She's got a touch of jaundice but she and Heidi are so well that the doctor was fine with having them leave hospital today (they were supposed ...

Xmas lunch

Tuesday, December 21st, 2004

Work's xmas lunch today at the Terrace. Great food. Everyone kept checking out the wind up torch I bought for my boss.

Beach showers not open

Saturday, December 11th, 2004

The beach showers were supposed to open today but they haven't. Did my Xmas shopping. Geez, I've been tired lately. When I'm tired, I can't write.

Christmas Cards

Friday, November 26th, 2004

I've just finished doing my office Xmas cards. It's not even December yet.
