Great Coastal Walk

Saturday, August 16th, 2008

The Great Coastal Walk is a mixture of bush trails and road rambles that lead from Cronulla in Sydney's south to Barrenjoey Lighthouse in Sydney's north. It's only just fully opened. I did the Manly to Barrenjoey walk a few years ago and it was fantastic.

Sunday, December 30th, 2007

I'll be offline for a few days because I'm going up north to stay at a friend's beach house. Happy New Year everyone! :-)

The Purple Bar Of Win!

Tuesday, November 27th, 2007

And here, like every year, are the pictures of what my winning page on the website looked like: Note the Purple Bar of Win in the top image! :-) Though the bar is nice, I prefer last year's look - a Flash animated book, with a cover and turning pages ...

My Neo has arrived!

Tuesday, October 30th, 2007

My Neo has just arrived. I got a pick up notice from Australia Post in the mailbox today and charged down to the local post office. Thirty minutes later, I'd tested out my brand new Neo, and uploaded the fan-made fonts. Like the font in the picture - Bold. (There's ...

Paranoid Nonsense

Thursday, September 6th, 2007

From The Sydney Morning Herald: "I personally think it's over-the-top paranoia to make you feel scared," said Anthony Miller, manager of the Museum of Sydney Cafe in Bridge Street, which was surrounded yesterday by wire fences, hordes of police and undercover officers. "On Monday an APEC security officer asked us to limit ...

Mackerel Beach Box Jellyfish

Thursday, June 28th, 2007

West Head Box Jellyfish Originally uploaded by c.j.b. We thought this was a killer tropical jellyfish - in Pittwater, Sydney! We were waiting on Mackerel Beach wharf for the next ferry back, on Sunday, and c.j.b. mentioned he'd seen a strange jellyfish and ...

Sunday, June 24th, 2007

Boat On The Side Originally uploaded by travellingcharl. Taken at Mackerel Beach, in Pittwater, while walking to the 2108 geocache. This is the first time I've experimented with strange camera angles.

Wave Watching

Tuesday, May 1st, 2007

Wave Watching Originally uploaded by travellingcharl. I took a lunchtime walk along Newport Beach today. There was no beach patrol (as that's finished until next spring) and though it was fairly warm, it wasn't quite warm enough to swim. Like this girl, ...

Stolen car keys

Friday, January 27th, 2006

Will this week ever end? I felt well enough this afternoon to go for a swim at the beach and I left my car keys, wrapped in a light blue microfibre towel, on the beach. When I came back, they were gone. It's the first time something of mine has ...

Australian Xmas

Sunday, December 25th, 2005

Dear all, It's 28 degrees C, not a breath of wind, the cicadas are chirping and the sky is a perfect, cloudless blue. I just got back from a quick swim at the beach. The water was like warm, green glass. Now I'm tidying the house, in preparation for the relatives ...

Washed out

Tuesday, December 6th, 2005

It was rough in the beach pool at lunchtime. I'd just entered the water and I was swimming, when a large wave broke over me, and the next thing I knew, the concrete sides of the pool were rasping along my left hand and left knee, my feet were kicking ...

Beach afternoon

Saturday, October 22nd, 2005

Warm day that clouded over in the afternoon. I had a few hours before I had to get ready to go out, so I went to the beach. Heavy, dark rainclouds hovered nearby as I walked up and down the beach. I could see a veil of rain only a kilometre ...

Oysters Afresh

Monday, October 3rd, 2005

Hot and gorgeous spring day. Had a picnic at Arney's Beach with Chris, Belinda and Fiona today. There were at least 5 yachts moored at the beach, so it wasn't as quiet as it was last time I was there, but we still had a good time. Fiona looked for ...
