The iPhone is coming out in Australia.
I'm not getting one until:
1. My iPod and/or phone conks.
2. The iPhone capacity exceeds my iPod - 30 gig. Sixteen gig is the current capacity.
3. I can buy outright. No monthly bill slavery for me!

Apologies about the delay in getting this up. There are more photos in this post than any other post I've made and they took some time to upload and organize. A whole week, in fact. I went to Kew Gardens last Sunday.

7.30pm: So much for being a vegetarian. I just cooked...
Oops, East Enders is on. I wonder if the affair will be discovered?
9.00pm Jane's affair wasn't discovered in East Enders. Then Chaz and I saw a very good, though gory, hospital soap. The gore wasn't really necessary. They'd show the surgeons ...

Just found out about EyeTV, which allows the user to watch pause and fast forward live TV on a Mac.
Not bad!

My Mac update program just upgraded my Mac to iTunes 5, and somehow during the upgrade I lost my music files, and all the data associated with them, such as ratings, playlists and playcounts! I'm furious. I wish I'd never seen iTunes 5.
Found out about PodUtil on iPodLounge.com ...

I got Tiger yesterday, around the same time that I realised it had a security flaw. Apparently, Safari (the web browser) can be made to download malware widgets.
I'm sure they'll patch this soon.
Apart from this security scare, the first I've known since switching to Apple, Tiger is going well.
Installing ...

Bought a new stand for my iBook. The cheap $9 book stand I've been using for the past 7 months snapped a few days ago. Now I've got the $46 'official' iBook stand I refused to buy (due to expense) 7 months ago. Let's see if it works better than ...

The Banana Bunker is a plastic tube for protecting your lunch time banana from being squashed in your bag.
I'm torn between thinking:
1. Why didn't I think of that?
2. Why didn't they just take an apple to work? Apples don't crush as easily.

Just found out that Firefox is available for Mac. The useful Quicktags feature of Wordpress doesn't work in Safari, the Mac's main browser, but it works fine in the Mac version of Firefox.
Now I can bold stuff at home! ;-)

Amazingly, my iBook actually crashed yesterday. I got a grey screen of death telling me to reboot. This is the first time I've ever seen anything like it on a Mac. Rarely, applications will crash, but then you simply 'force quit' to get rid of them. They don't crash the ...

Prediction from I, Cringley:
Apple will take a big risk in 2005. This could be in the form of a major acquisition. With almost $6 billion in cash, Steve Jobs hinted to a group of employees not long ago that he might want to buy something big, though I am at ...

Bought a Foretrex 101 and the required cables from a local GPS store.
The store is in Mona Vale so I simply drove there after work. I wanted to have a go of all the GPS devices before I bought them, so buying online wasn't really an option.
There was one GPS ...

From The Sydney Morning Herald:
Tech companies feel the heat
Seattle
November 20, 2004
The people who call Dell Inc's customer service line often have no idea why their computers are running so slow.
The ones who call America Online Inc can't necessarily explain why internet connections keep dropping. And those who file ...

How come my little 1.2 gig CPU, 256meg RAM iBook is faster than my 1.6 gig CPU, 512meg RAM PC? Seven windows open, iTunes playing, and my laptop is only just showing the strain. My PC takes a minute just to open Firefox.

Rocked up at Mac & Me this morning and ordered an Airport Express and 12 inch iBook with Bluetooth, 256mb of memory, an Airport Extreme card, and a 60gig hard drive.

From the Sydney Morning Herald:
Supersize the screen, please
By Garry Barker
September 23, 2004
The question now is, which of the two iMac screen sizes - 17-inch or 20-inch - will sell better.
Early pulse-taking around Apple centres suggests that the 20-inch is the favourite, with buyers ignoring the $700 extra cost over the ...

The new G5 iMac looks plainer than the previous 'iLamp' model (which I thought was cute). I wasn't impressed by the new iMac at first but it's growing on me. It will certainly go with my iPod, something Apple clearly had in mind, 'cos the introductory video was keen to ...
