Good Friday

Barbie, if you’re reading this, congratulations on 30 years at Bennetts! I hope they gave you a good party!

I’m sitting in Piccadilly Starbucks. Had a free breakfast at the Regent Palace, because they moved me to another (smaller) room and I complained. A business man from Hong Kong chatted to me at breakfast and gave me his business card and asked me to call him.

I had to go to Leicester Square yesterday to unlock my phone, but at last I have a phone number.

077571362 763

Country code of the UK is 44, and you’ll need to remove the first zero if you’re calling internationally. I think Telstra’s international dial code is 00 11.

e.g. 0011 44 7757 1362 763

Please don’t call me at 3am! If you’d called me a few days ago, I would have been awake (bloody jetlag) but now I’m actually sleeping until, oh, at least 5.30am. ;-p

Saw Les Miserables last night. Wasn’t bad. Average songs (can you think of a single Les Mis song that has charted?) propped up by fantastic performances. Loved the transforming stage prop that was alternatively a slum, a city or a barricade. Hope I don’t spoil the show for people by saying – nearly everyone dies. It’s violent. Lots of beatings, mothers dying and massacres. You’d think it was about a revolution or something. ๐Ÿ˜‰

It’s Good Friday and most of the shops are shut here. Apparently you had a beautiful hot beach day in Sydney yesterday. It’s cold, grey and drizzling here but I don’t mind. Maybe I’m turning into an English person, but I managed to make the dash from my hotel to Starbucks wearing only a t-shirt, jeans and the zip up fleece top I bought yesterday. No ski jacket, no umbrella, no gloves. Maybe soon I’ll be able to go to discos in the snow wearing only high heeled boots, short denim skirt and a midriff top? Then I’ll be a true Londoner.

Today I wanted to look around at accommodation but I don’t think many places will be open. There are so many things I could be doing here but they all cost money. Flicking through TNT Magazine, I saw ads for spending this weekend in a castle in Scotland, or Paris, or Italy. But I don’t have a job or a flat yet and I don’t want to start spending big until I have an income. Guess I’ll go geocaching instead. I need to drop off those 3 travel bugs and I bought an Oyster card yesterday (bus and train smart card) so most of my travel will be free.

How could you do that when I only have an internet connection in an internet cafe or Starbucks and they aren’t open at 3am.

Of course, I could call YOU at 3am! Bwahahaha! ;-p
