Ice-cream bean

Saturday, April 28th, 2007

I've got to get me one of these: Ice-cream bean (Inga edulis) A large nitrogen fixing tree which produces bean pods up to 1 metre long which contain sweet, juicy, white pulp that has a soft cotton wool texture and tastes of vanilla ice-cream. Comes from Central and Southern America. I wonder ...

Hi Jaci!

Thursday, April 19th, 2007

Thanks for the phone call. I just checked to see if Wordpress allows PDF uploading and it does. I recommend checking out the Wordpress theme viewer, to see if there are any you fancy.

Death by chocolate

Wednesday, April 18th, 2007

Belinda gave me a combined Christmas and birthday party last night - a Chocolate Appreciation Evening at Lindt Concept Store and Cafe. It's not often that you get to eat the best chocolates, hot chocolate, and cakes in the world until you literally cannot bear to be in the same ...

Treebeard

Tuesday, April 17th, 2007

Placed another city cache today. It's not yet gone live. Treebeard S 33° 51.927 E 151° 12.815 Difficulty: 1 Terrain: 1 A gnarled, old fig tree, named after the oldest living being in Tolkien's Middle Earth. My 150th Geocache

Sunday, April 15th, 2007

Big day of geocaching. Yewenyi was in Canberra, so it was just Chris and me. First we tried: Cops and Bushrangers. Unfortunately, it wasn't a success. We tried trail after trail, but only got to within 80m of the cache, with cliffs in the way. If there was a clear trail ...

Sunday, April 15th, 2007

Bad Behavior has stopped 413 access attacks in the 24 hours since I installed it. Akismet has not received any spam comments at all, and my bandwidth usage is down by nearly 50 percent. I'm impressed! :-)

Bad Behavior

Saturday, April 14th, 2007

I've installed Bad Behavior, a spam bot blocker. In theory, I should get very few spam comments from now on. Not that they were going live, thanks to Akismet, but if the spammers are kept away, my site will use less bandwidth. It was a simple install. I just uploaded it, ...

6,366 Spam

Saturday, April 14th, 2007

Akismet has caught 6,366 spam comments since I activated it on 23rd March 2007. That's around 276 spam comments a day, which sounds like a lot but some Wordpress bloggers get over 400 a day. I've had about 30 false negatives from Akismet so far, and no false positives at all. ...

The places in the world I’ve been

Wednesday, April 11th, 2007

I've visited 15 countries. Mexico, the United States, Austria, Belgium, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Vatican City, France, Monaco, the United Kingdom, Japan, the Philippines and Thailand. It sounds like a lot, but according to World66, that's a mere 6% of the world.

Easter Show 2007

Sunday, April 8th, 2007

Went off to the Easter Show yesterday with Brian, Chris, Belinda and Fiona. I missed out last year, as I was in London at the time. Nothing much has changed at the Show, but it's one of those places you just have to visit, even if it's only once a ...
