Healthy populations born of happy women

Wednesday, August 31st, 2005

From The Sydney Morning Herald: Healthy populations born of happy women August 31, 2005 The French may have a lesson for other countries on how to increase birth rates, writes Gwynne Dyer. The Japanese have known it was coming for years, but it still arrived sooner than anyone expected. The country's population ...

Snow shower gel

Tuesday, August 30th, 2005

My Demeter shower gels have turned up. Creme Brulee smells like vanilla and toffee. Snow has a very faint, fresh scent, like new icecubes. I got a free Grapefruit Tea lotion in the box, which I'm using on my hands. It has a pleasant, citrusy smell. Very impressed so far. I'll have ...

Semi warm

Tuesday, August 30th, 2005

It was supposed to be 25 degrees today, so I brought my towel and bikini to work, but it was cloudy at lunchtime so I didn't swim.

Skype

Monday, August 29th, 2005

I'm chatting to Chris using Skype for the first time. The sound is a bit garbled, Chris says I sounded like a harp occasionally, probably due to signal drop out. But it's pretty good for a free phonecall.

Bushfire Geocaching

Cascading Capers August 28 by c.j.b (43 found) Charl, OzPhoenix, and I had thought we were heading to another cache in the vicinity, until long after the 'point of no return' Charl realized she'd already visited this site.. Yes, they asked for cache finding hints...and they got them! ;-) Just to warn ...

Archived Swamp Cache

Friday, August 26th, 2005

Had to archive my Swamp cache. I posted the following note during the archive process: Geez, the council wasn't kidding this time. Rather than a piece of cloth (that everyone ignored) across the path they've put up a no-nonsense barbed wire fence to block access while they work on the area ...

Worst Album Covers

Friday, August 26th, 2005

The worst album covers of all time. Could "Let Me Touch Him" by The Minister's Quartet be bettered/worse?

Grandma’s funeral

Thursday, August 25th, 2005

Nan’s funeral was today. It was a small, private affair, held in the office of the funeral director for around 30 of Nan’s family and friends. I promised myself I wouldn’t cry, in case it upset Mum and my friend Heidi but I ended up using most of Heidi’s tissues anyway. ...

Three visitors

Tuesday, August 23rd, 2005

Tolkien Tree had three visitors in its first day. The last two visitors noted that you have to be very quick to claim a city cache virgin! :-) With the instant success of this cache, I'm tempted to make another city cache. Chris has an inspired idea about how to hide ...

Colour wheel

Funeral Planning

Friday, August 19th, 2005

So Nan's funeral is sorted out. She's having a memorial service and a private cremation. Her ashes will be scattered on grandpa's grave and his gravestone altered to reflect that fact. The private cremation is important. There's nothing worse a funeral where the audience has to watch the coffin being transported into ...

Family

Friday, August 19th, 2005

All the family's here. We're waiting for the funeral home to ring and say they've picked up grandma. They're taking an awfully long time about it. My sister's work sent her flowers.

Grandmother

My grandmother passed away at 4am this morning. I'll write more later.
